Hello World! [2025-02-22]
Well, I didn’t think we would be here but here we are. It’s finally great to be online! While the site and the setup behind it wasn’t particularly difficult, it took a bit of time. It made me reflect. Compared with what I know now versus what I knew then, this would have taken much much longer, and I can only imagine how much different it will be looking back years in the future. Alas, we can only be as ready as we can possibly be. However, I think no matter how much time passes, I will not change my mind about CSS :)
At this point in time, the edges are a bit rough and the styling could use more work. Hopefully, in the future the site will have a more thematic look while retaining the minimal aesthetic.
With the toil out of the way, it’s time to share some of the setup for reflection, introspection, and history!
Actual server setup
Yep, that’s the server running this portfolio / blog! It is powered by debian and nginx. I couldn’t really afford the docker-configured, kubernetes-reinforced, distributed system, threadripper, ultra server farm, so this will have to do :P.
I’ll also briefly share the stack. You could maybe guess the framework, but, for the uninitiated, I’m using astro. It’s thankfully not hard to use and somewhat interesting, but I’m fairly indifferent to a lot of frontend frameworks. The backend is golang, but it doesn’t do too much at the moment.
I’ll try my best to update the page a bit more and post something with more technical merit, but I have other stuff to handle. Til next time.
